What the CoA and registered-source rules add

Under the HHS policy, the pharmacy must buy bulk KPV from an FDA-registered facility with a valid certificate of analysis, from a CGMP-compliant manufacturer, and compound one active ingredient per product. Oral KPV also needs documentation that the formulation is adequately bioavailable in humans. Each step costs money, and so does the prescriber’s evaluation and follow-up.

Why “research grade” KPV is cheaper, and what it lacks

Research-grade vials skip the prescription, the 503A pharmacy and the sourcing documentation, so they cost less. They are outside the HHS policy, are not made for a named patient, and carry no requirement for a CoA, a registered source or a bioavailability check. FDA warned five online peptide vendors on August 24, 2026 that “research use only” labels did not outweigh evidence of human use.
